What does a workflow design studio actually do?
A workflow design studio designs workflows and builds them too — together with the people who know the actual job. Not as a 40-page concept, but as something that ends up working. werkflow.studio is one such studio: training, process optimisation, custom software and local AI infrastructure, designed and built by the same hands.
How is this different from consulting?
Consulting ends with a recommendation, a studio ends with something that works. That is the whole difference — and it decides whether anything actually changes once the project is over.
The word comes from craft and from design: a studio is a place where things are made. The same hands draw it and build it. Whoever only draws never finds out where a design fails in practice.
At the other end sits the software house: it builds what was ordered. That falls short too, as long as nobody understands how the work is really done on the floor. A studio does both — and starts with the understanding.
How does a project run?
Human expertise comes first, not the tool. Someone who has been writing quotations for fifteen years knows things about quotations that appear in no model. That knowledge is drawn out first — only then does the question arise which part of it an AI can take over.
The work happens with the people who use the workflow every day, in the place where it happens. Not with a project group that reports back afterwards.
And whatever is enjoyable does not get automated. A workflow that gives energy is not a problem in need of a solution.
When a studio is the wrong answer
Not every question needs a studio. In these cases the honest advice is a different one:
- What is missing is a single feature that can be bought off the shelf — then buying is cheaper than building.
- The workflow is unclear, but nobody in the company has time to explain it. Without that time, nothing durable gets built.
- What is wanted is a report backing a decision that has already been made.
- AI is meant to replace staff. That is a different job, and it is not mine.
What does working together cost?
The initial call is free and takes about 15 minutes. It answers exactly one question: which building block fits — or whether any of them does.
After that, every building block has a fixed scope and a fixed price; both are stated openly on the relevant service page. For a small start there are four entry points that need no large project — from a free 15-minute slot at the local AI setup in the studio to a two-day workflow design audit on site.
Why does werkflow.studio exist?
Because nobody explains how to really delegate. Most people sit in front of AI tools and type away — not out of inability, but because no one ever showed them how to use AI as a precise instrument instead of a slot machine.
The road here ran through building automation: first programming and commissioning plants, then working on the client side between planners, tenants and general contractors, and since 2023 developing and implementing innovations at a foundation. In late 2024 AI became genuinely useful for programming — it has been a fixed part of the work ever since. The full path is on the About page.
How much difference that makes became clear in early 2025, with a funding application. Applications like it had reliably taken one to two weeks before. Worked through in exactly this way, it was finished in two days — and it was approved.
werkflow.studio has existed under its own name since July 2026. The work happens alternately from Berlin and Kiel, with Hamburg in between.

Do you need to know what you want beforehand?
No. That is exactly what the initial call is for. A clear idea saves time; a vague sense of where things are stuck is just as welcome.
Does the data stay in house?
On request, yes. Local AI infrastructure runs entirely on your own hardware — the data never leaves the building. Where cloud tools make sense, it is stated up front which data goes there.
Is this only for large companies?
No. The services are aimed at small and medium-sized companies, at skilled trades and at individuals. For individuals there are open workshops in small groups, at a fixed price and with no initial call needed.
What if an AI workflow is already running but gives poor results?
